HEALTH CRITERIA FOR ENTRY OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Official Policy Document | All international students must comply with these health requirements.

1) COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

1 HIV/AIDS • Infectious
• Difficult to cure long-term
• High treatment cost
Accepted if stable, asymptomatic, and meets:
• CD4 > 350
• Normal liver function
• Hb >10gm%
• No opportunistic infection
• Self-funded treatment
• No blood-borne risk courses
Allowed to continue if:
• Self-funded treatment
• Current course only
• No blood-borne courses
• Counseling & health monitoring
2 Hepatitis B • Infectious
• Difficult to cure long-term
• High treatment cost
Accepted ONLY if NON-INFECTIOUS (confirmed by HBeAg + HBeAb test)
• Self-funded treatment
• Current course only
• No blood-borne courses
Allowed to continue if:
• Self-funded treatment
• Current course only
• No blood-borne courses
3 Tuberculosis • Infectious
• Treatable within fixed period
Defer registration until treatment completed & INACTIVE TB (max 2 semesters) Defer studies immediately; treat until sputum negative; complete treatment home country; resume when INACTIVE
4 Malaria • Infectious
• Short-term treatment
Allowed after treatment & doctor-certified negative Allowed after treatment & confirmed negative
5 Typhoid • Infectious
• Short-term treatment
Allowed after full treatment & recovery certification Allowed after treatment completed
6 Syphilis • Infectious
• Short-term treatment
Allowed after treatment + treatment completion letter Allowed after treatment; monitoring required

2) NON-COMMUNICABLE CHRONIC DISEASES

1 Schizophrenia • Dangerous to self/others
• Recurrent, affects study
NOT ACCEPTED May continue if stable with treatment; sent back if not recovered >2 semesters
2 Epilepsy • Dangerous
• Recurrent
Allowed if stable; not for machinery courses Allowed if stable with specialist confirmation
3 Dialysis • Long-term, severe symptoms NOT ACCEPTED May continue if no impact on study & self-funded
4 Cancer • Long-term treatment Accepted if treatment ≤2 semesters Allowed if treatment ≤2 semesters
5 Drugs • Against law NOT ACCEPTED Termination of studies
6 Hypertension
Diabetes
• Long-term medication
• Complications may affect study
Accepted if stable & self-funded Allowed if stable & self-funded
